Privacy Policy: Stardew Guide (Unofficial)
Effective date: 3 November 2026
This policy explains what information the Android app Stardew Guide (Unofficial) (package com.teddydeveloper.stardewguide, published by teddydevelopers) handles, and why.
Summary
- The guide's content is built into the app and works offline. You don't need an account, and the app has no location access. What you enter (farms, notes, progress) is stored on your device and in backups you or Android make. Only if you choose to sign in (optional) are your email address and, when you tap "Back up now", a copy of that data stored in your account with Google Firebase, as described below.
- The app is free and shows ads provided by Google AdMob. Google's ad software may collect some information from your device to show and measure ads, as described below.
- With your consent, the app sends anonymous usage statistics through Google Analytics for Firebase (which screens and tools are used), as described below. You can switch this off at any time in the app.
Usage statistics (Google Analytics for Firebase)
To learn which parts of the guide are used and what to improve, the app can send usage statistics to Google Analytics for Firebase. This happens only if you allow it: where a consent form is required (for example in the EEA, the UK or Switzerland), nothing is sent unless you agree to it in Google's consent form; everywhere, nothing is sent while Settings → Privacy → "Share anonymous usage statistics" is off.
What is sent:
- app interactions: which screens and tools are opened, how often a search finds nothing (never what you searched for), which kind of guide page is opened or saved (for example "villagers", not which villager), when a feature such as a backup, a co-op code or a save-file import is used, when the Plus offer is shown, and the steps of an in-app purchase (which product, and whether it was bought or cancelled; Google Play also reports the price);
- a random app instance ID that Google Analytics creates for this installation (it is not your advertising ID, your Android ID or your name), and basic device and app information such as the device model, Android version, app version and language;
- an approximate location (country or region) that Google derives from your IP address.
What is not sent: your farm names, notes, search text, co-op codes, save files, or anything else you type. The app does not send your advertising ID or Android ID to Google Analytics, and there are no accounts or user IDs.
Google processes this data on our behalf to produce statistics for us; we do not sell it or use it to show you ads. Event-level data is kept for at most 14 months (our Google Analytics data-retention setting). Turning the switch off stops the statistics at once and deletes the analytics data stored on your device, including the app instance ID. Learn more about how Google uses this data at https://policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
Ads (Google AdMob)
To show ads, the Google Mobile Ads SDK built into the app may collect and process:
- device identifiers such as the advertising ID,
- approximate location derived from your IP address,
- information about your interactions with ads and the app, and
- diagnostic information such as crash logs and performance data.
Google uses this information to deliver ads, measure them, limit how often you see the same ad, and prevent fraud. Learn more at https://policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
Your choices
- If you are in a region where consent is required (for example the EEA, the UK or Switzerland), the app shows Google's consent form before any ads load. You can change your choice at any time from **About → Privacy settings (ads)** in the app. The same form covers the usage statistics above.
- You can reset your advertising ID or opt out of ad personalization in your device settings (Settings → Google → Ads, or Settings → Privacy → Ads, depending on your device).
Crash reports (Google Play)
The app has no crash-reporting tool of its own. If the app crashes or stops responding, Android and Google Play may send a crash report to us through the Google Play Console, but only if you allow your phone to share usage and diagnostics data with Google (you can change this in your device settings). Such a report holds technical details: the error and where in the app it happened, the app version, the Android version and the device model. It does not contain your name, your farm data or anything you typed, and we can't link it to you. We use these reports only to find and fix bugs. Google's privacy policy applies: https://policies.google.com/privacy.
Optional account and cloud backup (Firebase Authentication and Cloud Firestore)
Signing in is optional; every guide feature works without it. If you create an account or sign in with Google (Settings › Account), we use Firebase Authentication and Cloud Firestore, services of Google, on our behalf:
- Account: your email address, a random user ID that Firebase assigns, how you sign in (password or Google) and when you last signed in. With email and password, the password is stored by Firebase only in hashed form; we never see it. With Google, Google confirms your address to Firebase; we don't receive your Google password, contacts or other Google data.
- Cloud backup: only when you tap "Back up now", the app stores one copy of your saved data (farms, notes, checklists, saved pages and settings: the same content as a backup file) in your account, with the time it was saved and the app version. A new backup replaces the earlier one. Only you (signed in to that account) can read it; we use it for nothing else.
- Where: the cloud backup is stored in Google Cloud's Europe multi-region (eur3). Firebase Authentication may process account data in other countries under Google's data processing terms.
- How long: until you delete it. Delete account (Settings › Account) deletes the cloud backup and the account at once; the data on your phone stays. Accounts are not deleted automatically.
- Google Analytics never receives your account, email address or user ID.
- Google's privacy policy: https://policies.google.com/privacy, and Firebase's privacy and security information: https://firebase.google.com/support/privacy.
Deleting your account
In the app: Settings › Account › Delete account. If you can no longer use the app, email teddydevelopers@gmail.com from the address of your account and ask for it to be deleted; we delete the account and its cloud backup within 30 days and tell you when it is done.
In-app purchases (Google Play)
The optional purchases (Plus and Remove ads) are handled entirely by Google Play. We never see your payment details or your Google account. The app only receives Google Play's confirmation of what was bought, and stores that on your device so the feature stays unlocked; "Restore purchases" asks Google Play again. Google's privacy policy applies to the payment: https://policies.google.com/privacy.
Features that stay on your device
- Save-file import reads the Stardew Valley save file you pick, on your device only; the file is never uploaded.
- Backups are files you choose to save and restore yourself (the optional cloud backup is described above).
- The birthday reminder is a notification scheduled on your device; nothing is sent to a server.
- The home-screen widget shows data that is already stored in the app.
- Co-op codes are text you copy and share yourself; the app does not send them anywhere.
Children
The app is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from children.
